blue, black and white design. The artwork features a photographic-style montage of the principal characters and spacecraft against a star field, with explosions framing the composition. The angular
Battle Beyond the Stars title appears prominently in bright blue, while the cast and production credits run across the lower section. The poster retains its original horizontal cinema folds. Australian references confirm this design as a first-release Australian Daybill.
All About Movies COLLECTOR’S NOTES: Produced by cult filmmaker
Roger Corman,
Battle Beyond the Stars was deliberately conceived as a science-fiction variation on
The Magnificent Seven, itself based on Akira Kurosawa’s
Seven Samurai. The screenplay was written by
John Sayles and the music composed by
James Horner. Of particular interest to film collectors, an early-career
James Cameron worked on the film’s visual effects and production design. The film has subsequently developed a cult following, giving the Australian first-release poster appeal across science-fiction, cult cinema and Corman collecting.
