A Challenge for Robin Hood is a 1967 British adventure from Hammer, starring Barrie Ingham as Robin Hood, Gay Hamilton as Maid Marian, Leon Greene as Little John and John Arnatt as the Sheriff of Nottingham. It was the third and final Robin Hood film produced by Hammer, following The Men of Sherwood Forest and Sword of Sherwood Forest.

POSTER DESIGN FEATURES: A particularly bold Australian Daybill dominated by an intense emerald-green, black and white colour scheme. Barrie Ingham as Robin Hood occupies most of the poster, raising his bow and arrow above the large black shield-shaped title panel. Halftone photographic reproduction gives the artwork an almost comic-book or newspaper-print quality, while the oversized headline “THE MIGHTY EPIC OF THE ROGUE OF ROGUES!” creates considerable visual impact. The lower section carries the Seven Arts-Hammer production credit, 20th Century-Fox release credit and Australian General Exhibition classification.

COLLECTOR'S NOTE: This is a particularly interesting title for Hammer Films collectors, as it represents Hammer's final excursion into the Robin Hood story and comes from the same studio best known internationally for its classic Dracula and Frankenstein films. The Australian Daybill is visually very different from the highly illustrated British Quad by celebrated poster artist Tom Chantrell, giving collectors a distinctly Australian alternative for the film.
