Mutiny on the Bounty is MGM's lavish 1962 adaptation of the famous Bounty mutiny, starring Marlon Brando as Fletcher Christian, Trevor Howard as Captain Bligh and Richard Harris as John Mills. Directed by Lewis Milestone, the large-scale production received seven Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture.

POSTER DESIGN FEATURES: A particularly attractive full-colour Australian Daybill. The upper artwork depicts HMS Bounty under sail, while the central romantic illustration shows Marlon Brando's Fletcher Christian with Tarita against a tropical Tahitian landscape. Strong blue and red typography gives prominent billing to Marlon Brando, Trevor Howard and Richard Harris, with a bright red lower panel advertising Ultra Panavision 70 and Technicolor. The artwork used for the film's international campaign is associated with noted illustrator Reynold Brown.

COLLECTOR'S NOTE: A strong combination of Marlon Brando, Richard Harris, classic MGM spectacle and maritime history. The film was one of the major Hollywood epic productions of the early 1960s, while its Tahitian production also became personally significant for Brando: co-star Tarita Teriipaia, who played Maimiti, later became his wife. The large sailing-ship and tropical artwork makes this Australian Daybill particularly displayable even independently of the film's star appeal.
