Mattress Tango is the English-language title of the 1973 West German film Matratzen-Tango. The German Film Institute confirms Eberhard Schröder as director, Fred Denger as screenwriter, Horst Hächler as producer and CTV 72 as the production company.
POSTER DESIGN FEATURES: A wonderfully unmistakable piece of 1970s Australian exploitation advertising. The design combines a large yellow-and-green title panel with blue promotional typography and a photographic montage beneath. The central imagery shows the film's romantic and risqué comedy elements, including a kissing couple and Rinaldo Talamonti surrounded by women. Particularly notable is the very Australian headline “Hilarious R Rated Comedy With Those Beautiful West German Birds”, together with the small BEF distributor logo. COLLECTOR'S NOTE: A colourful example of the West German sex-comedy cycle of the early 1970s, marketed specifically for Australian audiences. The film stars Italian-born actor Rinaldo Talamonti, who appeared extensively in German exploitation and comedy films during this period. Mattress Tango was his first solo starring film role.
