Harry & Tonto is a 1974 road comedy-drama about an elderly New Yorker who sets out across America with his beloved cat Tonto after losing his home. The journey brings Harry back into contact with his children, old friends and an assortment of strangers along the way.

POSTER DESIGN FEATURES: Distinctive orange, black and white Australian Daybill centred around an ornate picture frame containing a wonderfully simple line drawing of a hand and Tonto the cat. The cat motif is repeated in the bold Harry & Tonto title treatment, giving the poster a charming, instantly recognisable design.

COLLECTOR'S NOTE: Art Carney won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance as Harry, while Paul Mazursky and Josh Greenfeld received an Academy Award nomination for their original screenplay.
