Paradise is a 1982 romantic adventure starring Willie Aames and Phoebe Cates as two young survivors who find themselves alone together after their caravan is attacked while travelling through the Middle East. The film marked Stuart Gillard's feature directing debut and was one of Phoebe Cates' first two feature films, released the same year as Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

POSTER DESIGN FEATURES: A very photographic Australian Daybill dominated by a full-colour image of Phoebe Cates and Willie Aames together beside a tropical waterfall, with the film's suggestive Australian promotional line positioned at upper right. The lower section switches to a vivid turquoise panel carrying the large white PARADISE title and compact production credits. Unlike many illustrated Daybills of the period, the close-up photographic design makes the two young stars the overwhelming focus of the poster. The Hoyts Distribution credit and Robert Burton printer mark identify the Australian theatrical presentation.

COLLECTOR'S NOTE: The principal collector draw here is Phoebe Cates, appearing at the very beginning of the screen career that would shortly include Fast Times at Ridgemont High and later Gremlins. Paradise also has a cult connection to The Blue Lagoon-style romantic adventure cycle of the period. Cates additionally performed the film's vocal theme, giving the title another connection to her early career.
