POSTER DESIGN FEATURES:
Original Australian Daybill with a stark black background and a dramatic photographic image of Barbara Hershey as Carla Moran, surrounded by jagged white and blue energy effects suggesting the unseen force attacking her. The oversized orange-to-yellow gradient title dominates the centre, while the lengthy supernatural campaign copy fills the upper section. The minimal palette and large areas of black give the Australian design a particularly ominous, unsettling appearance. The supplied poster clearly carries the Robert Burton Printers Pty. Ltd. printer credit at lower right.
COLLECTOR’S NOTES:
The Entity is based on Frank DeFelitta’s 1978 novel, itself inspired by the reported experiences of a Los Angeles woman referred to under the pseudonym Carla Moran, who claimed to have been repeatedly attacked by an invisible presence. AFI records Sidney J. Furie as director and Barbara Hershey, Ron Silver and David Labiosa among the principal cast. AFI Catalog
The film has developed a strong cult following within supernatural and paranormal horror, particularly for Barbara Hershey’s performance and its disturbing premise. Australian collector listings confirm the existence of this original Australian Daybill issue. Vintage Posters AU
