Boom! is a 1968 drama pairing Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, with Taylor playing wealthy, terminally ill Flora Goforth and Burton the mysterious poet who arrives at her Mediterranean island home. Tennessee Williams adapted the screenplay from his own stage play.

POSTER DESIGN FEATURES: Beautifully illustrated Australian Daybill featuring a large romantic portrait of Taylor and Burton against a vivid orange sun, with bold blue and red typography. The predominantly white background makes the saturated orange, blue and flesh tones particularly striking.

COLLECTOR'S NOTE: This poster combines several strong collector names: Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, Tennessee Williams, director Joseph Losey, composer John Barry and cinematographer Douglas Slocombe. Although unsuccessful on its original release, Boom! subsequently developed a cult following; ACMI has screened it as a cult favourite, while filmmaker John Waters has championed the film.
