The Scorpio Letters is a 1967 Cold War-era spy thriller starring Alex Cord as an American recruited by British Intelligence to investigate a blackmail organisation headed by the mysterious Scorpio. Although produced for MGM Television and first shown on American television, it received theatrical releases internationally.

POSTER DESIGN FEATURES: Superb yellow Australian artwork dominated by an illustrated Alex Cord aiming a pistol directly toward the viewer, with Shirley Eaton behind him and smaller action and glamour vignettes. The poster prominently bills Eaton as “The Goldfinger Girl”, deliberately connecting the film with the James Bond spy-film phenomenon.

COLLECTOR'S NOTE: Particularly appealing to James Bond and 1960s spy-film collectors because Shirley Eaton had become internationally famous as Jill Masterson in Goldfinger. Contemporary history confirms that her Bond connection was deliberately used to market The Scorpio Letters. The film was also the final film directed by veteran MGM director Richard Thorpe, whose career included Jailhouse Rock, Ivanhoe and Knights of the Round Table.
