Malibu Beach is a 1978 teen beach comedy from Crown International Pictures, following a group of young Californians through a summer of lifeguarding, romance, parties, cars and beachside misadventures.

POSTER DESIGN FEATURES: Cheeky turquoise, black and white Australian Daybill dominated by a bikini-clad figure, a cartoon dog holding a bikini top and a busy illustrated beach scene below. The combination of photographic and cartoon artwork gives it a particularly distinctive late-1970s exploitation-comedy look.

COLLECTOR'S NOTE: Malibu Beach sits squarely within the late-1970s American teen and drive-in exploitation cycle associated with Crown International Pictures. The film also features James Daughton, who appeared the same year as Greg Marmalard in National Lampoon's Animal House. Original theatrical material for Malibu Beach continues to appear in specialist poster auctions; a pair of original US one-sheets including the film sold at Heritage in March 2026.
