Kim is a Port Macquarie based artist, she has been painting all her life, painting is a passion of hers. Kim works in the mediums of watercolour and gouache in all her pieces, for a number of years Kim has incorporated collage in her paintings, but now she solely paints. 
Kim likes to challenge nature; to distort & stylize what she sees, Kim is aware that there is so much natural beauty surrounding us, she feels like she have to rival nature, pushing it to the limit. Size & perspective don’t really interest her, colour & detail does. The structure of plants, insects, birds and fish is a key factor in all Kims works, the patterns that naturally occur are amazing, Kim tries to replicate these lines & shapes.
Symbolism is a key factor in Kims work, the relation to certain flowers to the mood she is trying to portray. Black is the key neutral used in all her paintings, she feels it glues the painting together, also creating a 3D effect, popping the key players in her final work. Kim has been asked a number of times why circles are always in her work, and why she paints so many of them, she honestly has no answer for that, it's just what she does.
